Here is an update for you about our church efforts to participate in providing relief and support for those directly affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles, and details about how you can help.

We have established a $20,000 dollar-for-dollar matching fund. Since I announced it on Sunday, you have responded so generously that we have completed this challenge. An additional $100,000 dollar-for-dollar matching gift has been offered by a church member, and so we now have an even greater opportunity to leverage our giving! Our financial support will be forwarded directly to two congregations in LA who are providing food, clothing, supplies, rent assistance, and other forms of direct aid.

We are collecting certain items that are most needed to supply crews who are engaging in cleanup efforts. Needed items are individually wrapped & nutritious snacks (like breakfast bars & nuts), canned goods that can be heated for instant meals, new socks/underwear/towels, air purifiers, to-go boxes and cups, large trash bags, work gloves, safety glasses, protective overalls, coffee makers/coffee/coffee supplies, animal food, pet litter, cleaning tools like brooms & mops, bleach, sanitary wipes, and clear plastic organizational bins.

You may drop these off at the church on Friday (January 17) from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and again Sunday (January 19) from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM. They will be shipped to LA using the shipping system of a church member's business.

We are working to establish the need for clothing, household items, and any other items that fire victims will need in the coming days and weeks, so please be watching for more information that we will share as we have it.
